    During the project design and construction
    • Oversees the implementation of Axalta’s standards, specification and best practices, and work alignment with local codes and standards.
    • P&IDs drawing reviews and updates, work with engineering to approve detail equipment design, develop detail process functional descriptions, develop detail control strategy, DCS process screen design and work with DCS programmers to implement the control strategy and batch operation based on product formulas and process design;
    • Technically, clarification of equipment from vendor information and verification critical of them during fabrication;
    • Define process standard operating limits and conditions (SOLs and SOCs);
    • Lead Process Failure Mode and Effect Analysis for the reactor process (PFMEAs);
    • Participate in Process Hazard Reviews;
    • Develop comprehensive pre-commissioning and commissioning plans
    • Develop training packages and train resin key operators on how to run the process;
    • Work with operations to develop standard operating procedures;
    • Work with resin chemists and controls engineers preparing DCS formulas for first product batch runs;

    Pre-commissioning and commissioning key work
    • Verify construction contractors’ installation and quality inspection;
    • Work closely with constructions and engineering to coordinate and meet construction system turn over plans;
    • Reactor systems’ principle resource to assure successful (safe and timely) pre-commissioning and commissioning activities;
    • Functional Description and Process control strategy, SOLs and SOCs water run check out;
    • Identify control, instrument and programming improvement needs identified during commissioning;

    System Startup role
    • Work closely with operations team and E&I to run first batches with chemicals in the reactor systems and insure process control to meet process safety and product quality;
    • Prove-out individual reactor systems’ performance per functional description and control plan;

    Production Ramp-up
    • Manufacture quality products while meeting product launch plans;
    • Work with the process technology alignment team to meet product and process qualification;
    • Continual improvement work. Identify and address process and product improvement opportunities;

    Manufacturing after product and process prove-out phase role

    • Resource and lead efforts to insure the plant can meet design metrics performance and develop plans to improve, uptime, cost savings, product yield, quality and safety and operation goals;
    • Identify, prioritize and implements technology upgrades that result in improved processes and batch to batch consistency;
    • Develop and lead the implementation of solutions to reactor process challenging technical issues and provide technical support for the process;
    • Assists and resource manufacturing troubleshooting and root cause analysis;
    • Deliver and help justify cost improvement opportunities in the resin area;
    • Systematically work with data and metrics and, actively participate in process technology global networks;
    • Lead “Product by process” effort (process controls and automation to improve process capability);
    • Coordinate key work and new initiatives with Ops and Technical and involve the broader R&D organization to address key improvement opportunities as needed;
    • Propose, documents and implement Axalta manufacturing standard good practices;
    • Axalta global reactor safety network site responsible and participating member;


    • BS, or above degree in Chemical Engineering with more than 6 years’ experience in process engineering or operation in one or more of the following resin chemistries: Acrylic resin, Polyester, Polyurethane, Polyamide-imide or Base Emulsion; Acrylic resin engineering and/or operation experience will be required as mandatory.
    • Demonstrated ability to drive technical programs and to work and contribute in a team environment;
    • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously;
    • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and/or support others in a team environment

    Knowledge & Skills:
    • Effective English written and oral communication;
    • Good office software application skill;
    • Trouble shooting and process improvement;
    • Quality and safety investigations and root cause failure analysis;
    • Process Control Systems for resin manufacturing process and DCS formula batch processing;
