This position will report to Michael Finn, the Senior Vice President, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary who also oversees Corporate and Government Affairs.  This person will also take day-to-day direction from, and collaborate with, senior members of the Legal Department including the regional General Counsels.  He/she will have responsibility for providing broad litigation support, assisting in the management of outside counsel, advising Axalta’s regional attorneys and guiding the litigation strategy globally.  This individual will provide added support to compliance-related challenges in concert with the Assistant General Counsel and VP, Compliance & Sustainability, as well as providing general commercial support with contracts and disputes.  The attorney may also provide support with respect to antitrust, data privacy, corporate governance, internal investigations and other regulatory matters.    He/she will also have opportunities to work directly with the General Counsel on special projects.  This lawyer must be an excellent business advisor and counselor who is hard-charging (yet tactful), high-energy, dynamic, a problem-solver and a self-starter who will communicate clearly, be responsive, engaged in the business, and proactive.


The Axalta Legal Department was recognized in 2015 by the Financial Times as one of the most innovative departments in the USA, won the 2016 ACC Value Challenge with Hunton & Williams for their work together on restructuring Axalta’s procurement processes, was recognized in November 2016 as the Winner for Best Law Department – Outside Counsel Management by Philadelphia’s Legal Intelligencer, and was a 2016 Corporate Counsel finalist for Legal Department of the Year.


Axalta’s attorneys are located in Philadelphia, PA, Glen Mills, PA and in global locations including Mexico, Brazil, China, Switzerland and Germany.  The Senior Corporate Counsel will sit in Axalta’s Philadelphia global headquarters.  The headquarters attire is business casual.



  • Strong academic credentials, including a J.D. or equivalent degree from a well-respected U.S. law school.
  • Licensed to practice in at least one state.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 7+ years of legal experience (with additional experience preferred, along with preference for training from a top law firm).
  • Broad exposure to multiple legal matters with an emphasis on litigation and compliance.
