    Under the general supervision and direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, the maintenance mechanic inspects, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, systems, buildings, facilities and physical structures.  Service and repairs will be made to both mechanical and electrical systems.  Process equipment that will be serviced and repaired includes, but is not limited to, the following: batch mixers, twin screw extruders, volumetric feeders, air classifying mills, and dust collectors.


    • Plans and organizes work to accomplish assigned job for maximum safety and efficiency 
    • Troubleshoots and repairs relatively specialized equipment throughout the plant. 
    • Safely performs electrical troubleshooting on equipment, and electrical repairs if necessary 
    • Safely inspects machinery and equipment while in operation for proper safeguarding, diagnosing faulty operation, making adjustments or repairs as necessary to keep the equipment in safe operating condition 
    • Removes from service those machines which require major repairs, revisions or additions to machinery and reinstalls, including proper safeguarding 
    • Operates, maintains, inspects, lubricates, and repairs equipment as necessary 
    • Repairs systems under emergency conditions in order to maintain plant operations 
    • Cuts, drills, taps, files, grinds, and fits all types of metal for fabrication, alterations, or repair to machines, building equipment, jigs and fixtures 
    • Uses hand and power tools of all kinds and a variety of measuring and testing instruments in a safe manner 
    • Completes work orders, requisitions, inspection reports, time distribution, material usage, etc., and performs other clerical duties necessary to maintain proper records relative to the work performed utilizing a computerized maintenance management system 
    • Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements as necessary
    • May operate mobile equipment, including fork lifts, manlift, crane, and carts 
    • Works with other maintenance employees by performing any duties to get equipment back into operation in minimum time


    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and four years related experience and/or training or a combination of education and experience will be considered 
    • The individual must be able to use computer based software for data entry into the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
    • Must have demonstrated knowledge of: 
      • Safety, organizational structure, basic power distribution.
      • Read & comprehend basic mechanical drawings, blueprints and schematics.
      • Basic working knowledge of plant equipment.
      • Troubleshooting, analysis and basic mechanical and electrical repair.
