    Position Description

    The Maintenance & Engineering Leader will support Plant Operations.  This role will manage and lead project processes from objective development through start up and turn over. The incumbent must develop and maintain effective working relationships with Operations, Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS), Sourcing, Construction, Maintenance and Engineering team.  This position is also responsible for leading, planning, and directing activities and employees engaged in installation, modification, maintenance, repair or removal of powder coating manufacturing and application systems.  As a member of the Safety Committee, s/he will be responsible for mechanical integrity, quality assurance, pre-start safety reviews, Management of Change- Equipment and fire safety.

    Responsibilities

    • Manage and lead projects from inception to completion which will include defining project objectives and scope, estimation of project costs, financial analysis to support improvement and growth projects, detailed planning and design, project execution/construction and commissioning; ensure high quality, high value, timely, safe and cost effective projects are delivered to the site and business
    • Manage and direct the work priorities of maintenance and engineering employees & non-resident contractors in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic maintenance and repair of equipment and installations 
    • Reconcile input from operations, EHS, sourcing, construction, maintenance and engineering team into an integrated project that delivers against project objectives
    • Assist employees with troubleshooting malfunctions of process and application equipment 
    • Review and maintain the preventative maintenance program in conjunction with affected departments.
    • Manage maintenance, inventory and capital expenditures budgets 
    • Maintain both short and long term capital plans and ensure they are aligned with the site strategy and business objectives
    • Inspect completed work for conformance to applicable blueprints, specifications, Axalta Corporate standards, and local/federal regulations 
    • Suggest and implement changes to processing conditions and/or equipment to increase efficiency of all processes
    • Ensure scheduling and personnel for outside contractors on project work is managed and meets project goals in a safe and cost effective manner 
    • Coordinate project execution with the production schedule to minimize downtime and business impact
    • Interpret company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
    • Hire and train employees; appraise performance; rewarding and disciplining employees
    • Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals

    Qualifications

    • BS degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering 
    • 3 to 5 + years of relevant manufacturing work experience and at least 2 years process improvement project leadership 
    • At least 5 years of maintenance experience desired
    • At least 3 years of relevant supervisory experience
    • Project management experience 
    • Quality systems and standards experience a plus
    • Change agent to drive project and continuous improvement mindset 
    • Ability to effectively use data to make decisions
    • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills to execute to a schedule
    • Ability to reconcile diverse viewpoints within team and between teams 
    • Effective written and oral communication skills with all levels of employees
    • Ability to interpret land Company’s regulations and reconcile against project goals 
    • Ability to perform basic statistical analysis 
    • Demonstrated ability with Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project and other scheduling tools
    • Knowledge of ERP data systems
