    Responsibilities

    The Powder Coatings business produces both decorative and functional powder coatings for a wide range of industry segments including Architectural, ACE, Appliances, Automotive, General Industrial, and Pipe Coatings. The Field Technical Service Representative is responsible for providing product application recommendations, training, line troubleshooting, and general technical support to customers who purchase Axalta Coatings products. Location: (Southern IL)  


    Responsibilities of the Technical Sales Representative:

    • In conjunction with Sales, the Field Technical Service rep will participate in customer presentations to promote Axalta’s coating solutions and explain Axalta’s value proposition
    • Trouble shoot customer coating line problems and promptly get to the root cause(s) of the issue(s) while communicating progress with the customer’s technical and management teams
    • Clearly articulate and explain the technical issue(s) and propose an efficient resolution plan that can be implemented quickly and efficiently
    • Conduct customer line audits and write report focusing on areas of improvement and recommendations
    • Train Axalta employees and customer’s technicians and adapt training material and exercises to the various skill levels of trainees
    • Attend and take technical lead for customer project qualification trials and production startup
    • In collaboration with the R&D and Technical Service Labs, the Field Technical Service rep will lead Product Problem Report (PPR) investigations
    • Work closely with Product Management and Sales to arrange product trials and product qualification of existing or new technologies
    • Provide sales team and product management team with market intelligence and market trends
    • Contribute, when necessary, to market strategy discussions with product management, R&D, business or any other team in need of technical information or support
    • Attend and participate in powder coatings events, conferences, trade associations and shows. May require participation to committees

    Qualifications

    Incumbent must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily and in a safe and manner. The items listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and experience required.

    • Technical degree but relevant powder coatings work experience will be considered in lieu of education
    • At least 5 years of experience in serving customers in the powder coatings industry in a technical function; Sales applicants will be considered with the conditions that they have the required technical qualifications for this position
    • Analytical, methodical thinker with the ability to quickly understand and integrate the potential causes of a technical problem
    • Strong technical understanding of powder products, powder applications, and ideally a good knowledge of Axalta products.
    • At least 5 years of experience in serving customers in the powder coatings industry in a technical function. Sales applicants will be considered with the conditions that they have the required technical qualifications for this position
    • Ability to understand target markets and competition in order to create value
    • Experience leading and training others 
    • Proficient in the English language – speaking, reading and writing
    • Ability to adapt communication style and language to various audiences, environments and situations with customers and/or co-workers
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point desired, and Project Management software
    • 40% travel (domestic, and in rare instances, international)
