    Axalta Coating Systems is looking to hire an Operations Manager for our paint manufacturing operations in Mt. Clemens, MI facility.  This position is open due to an internal promotion and will be working at a facility that is considered to be one of Axalta's hubs worldwide.

    Responsibilities

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Responsible for safety performance of operating area and compliance with local laws and regulations
    • Ensure compliance to standards, safe operating and quality procedures, and work instructions.
    • Develop and execute the manufacturing plan and establishes procedures for maintaining high standards of manufacturing operations to ensure that products conform to established customer and company quality standards.
    • Identify, recommend and implement changes to improve productivity and reduce cost and scrap, monitor scrap and rework data.
    • Direct the creation and implementation of engineering and maintenance processes and standards
    • Initiate and coordinate implementation of major projects (plant layout changes, installation of capital equipment, major repairs, etc.).
    • Analyze production and quality to detect and correct problems.
    • Establish, monitor performance against, and improve operations key performance indicators while ensuring daily execution against all operations targets
    • Manage plant facilities, layout, and maintenance functions
    • Schedule priorities to meet customer requirements.
    • Interface with third party vendors performing work on site
    • Manage operations within cost budget while generating opportunities for and executing against productivity improvements
    • Develop and manage production budgets, including providing an outlook of production costs
    • Control cost in relation to the budget and changes in production volume.
    • Mentor and coach operations team to develop talent and improve overall organizational capability
    • Determine the required human resources.
    • Develop mid to long term strategy for operations organization to align with business team strategy
    • Establish manufacturing policies, processes and programs that enable the organization to maintain and improve its competitive position as well as profitability.
    • Determine and implement improvements to the production process

     

    Qualifications

     

     

    EDUCATION AND /OR EXPERIENCE:

     

    BS in Engineering or equivalent

     

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

     

    Lean Manufacturing or equivalent preferred



    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

    • 7+ Years of managing wage roll and professional level employees in a manufacturing environment
    • Leadership experience in a manufacturing plant, preferably in a chemical or coatings facility
    • Track record of implementing change across an organization
    • Experience managing and leading projects (capital, lean, continuous improvement, etc.)
    • Ability to set strategic direction and execute a tactical plan

     

    MINIMUM SKILLS REQUIRED:

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate with all levels of the organization
    • Ability to analyze and interpret data and use data to solve problems
    • Strong computer skills
    • Skilled at coaching and mentoring throughout the organization
